You are bidding on a vintage/early 1959/1960 Silvertone/Danelectro chambered-body bass model 1444/U1. It has just been set-up and has bran new flat-wounds. The sound is very reminiscent of the Kay "Howlin' Wolf" bass. This 1444 is 100% original except 2 changed screws on the low "E" Kluson tuner. The pickguard is missing as well as the "Silvertone" nameplate, and cannot be included. Original red-lined HSC is in fair condition and will be included in the auction. The case needs a new handle, some of the corners re-glued, and a new latch. Rare embossed backplate that looks great! Classic 50's "Dolphin-nose" headstock! This bass has a very nice feeling neck that plays very comfortably with flatwounds! It has a nice playing action, with a little relief in the neck, and excellent sounding lipstick pickup! Classic 50's/60's wooden thump!! All pots, jack, tuners, pickup work great with no issues. The frets are in excellent condition! The body is also in very nice all-around condition.
