Welcome, you are bidding on an incredibly cool vintage piece. This is the vintage 50's Kay Silvertone Aristocrat Archtop. 25.5" scale. 1.64" nut width. 17 3/8" bottom bout. 3 5/8" deep. The Aristocrat was only made from '52-'55- so this is a rare bird indeed. This Aristocrat is one of the biggest, warmest sounding archtops we've ever had come through the shop. With its large hollow body and perfectly aged wood- this guitar has incredible natural resonance. The acoustic tone is almost piano like- the lows are deep and the treble strings have just the right amount of highs while maintaining a full body. The neck humbucker pickup grabs that sweet tone and send it to the volume and tone controls. The sound through the pickup is extremely warm- perfect for jazz comps. Chords have solid bottom end but retain note clarity. Single note lines have incredible depth. Just beautiful. The neck here is the typically chunky 50's style- 1.14" thick at the 5th fret- definitely adds tone transfer. The fretboard radius is about 9.5- great for easy chording and leadwork/bends. The look here is classic and beautiful- natural finish, full body/neck binding, Aristocrat fretboard inlays, the large pickguard with Aristocrat graphics, and, of course, that ornate Silvertone headstock. This Silvertone is in very good condition. There are the small checks and marks you would expect for a guitar of this vintage, the heel cap has come off, there is a glue repair on the seam of the back of the headstock(pic), and there is a slight gap at the bottom of the heel- very strong, there is no movement in either place. These obviously affect nothing. The tone pot acts as a volume pot when nearing '0' in its travel- an easy fix(we were reluctant to remove the electronics. The frets are clean- just professionally setup with action of just over 3/32" at the 12th fret low E. This is your chance to get your hands on an incredible piece of Kay/Silvertone history- the 50's Aristocrat. This is a no reserve auction. Don't pass this by!

7. Due to new USPS guidelines- certain countries will not accept USPS packages over 42". If that is the case, we can remove the neck or, if it is a set/neck-thru we can ship Fedex International for an additional charge.
