Vintage Silvertone/Teisco Guitar
Yep, this is a Silvertone all right! After a good long run of USA made guitars, Silvertone farmed out production to the Teisco company of Japan. What was the Teisco ET-460 became the Silvertone 1437 and is hands down the coolest guitar they ever designed. This one even comes in a rare green sunburst finish. With a whopping four pickups you won't be at a loss for sounds either. A lot of playes seem to prefer the Teisco's with these square pole pickups over others their guitars came with. The body has an unmistakeable dual cutaway design with some fancy beveled edges for even more style. It's the epitomy of 60s design sensibility. You're not going to top this cool headstock any time soon either. This model has a truss rod and adjustable bridge so it's a little more user friendly than the first wave of Japanese made guitars too. This one has been well loved in its life and it shows. There are nicks and scratches throughout but no big dings, dents or cracks. All the electronics are working. Each pickup has its own on/off switch and there is a "rhythm/solo" switch. The rhythm setting muffles the sound a bit with the solo setting letting the signal pass through unaffected. There are also a master volume and master tone knobs. The neck is straight and the guitar is quite playable with the action at a medium height (these guitars weren't made or designed to be played with super low action like some of today's players are used to). All in all, a pretty sweet vintage axe.
