1964 Teisco VN-2
Electric Baritone Guitar
Made in Japan in Very Nice Condition
This guitar feature an extended 27" scale length that could be used for low B tuning .
Looks and sounds like the Hound Dog Taylor style Teisco guitars of the same vintage.
Beautiful Sunburst finish on the front body and the back of the neck and front of the headstock.
Set up with new D'Addario 10-46 strings. You may want to switch to a heavier gauge.
These guitars sound great as well with flat wound strings.
This is a wild looking and sounding guitar that holds it's own.
Both the Master Volume and Tone Controls are rotary wheels, and there's individual On/Off switches for
each pickup plus a Rhythm/Solo switch for each pair.
The tremolo arm is broken at the entry point. You can remove the broken end and get a tremolo arm right here on eBay.
I actually prefer to use the guitar as a hard tail, without the tremolo. You get much better sustain, but it's really up to you.
The tail end's cover is here. Bright and shiny. Most of the times it is missing in action. Not here.
It was imported from Japan and sold under many different names.
This one is has the very rare Western name. Sold at Western Autos stores, way back in 1964 and there after.
Cool triple-pick guards setup, including dual Chrome pick guards which were also a feature of early Guyatone guitars.
The two Silvertone pickups have a wonderful tone and sound great.
Please look at the enlarged photos for clearer visual details.
There are some reflections caught by the camera. These are not marks or scratches, just reflections.
The fully bound Rosewood neck is straight and fast with good action frets that show almost no wear.
Action is low with no buzzing. It can be adjusted at the bridge to higher or lower action.
Truss Rod works just fine and the tuners function very well.
The Sunburst finish has aged nicely and there's no structural cracks, damage or repairs on the guitar.
This guitar has tons of Mojo with No Issues what so ever!
Actual playing wear is extremely light to none.
Some light scratches are to be found, but for its 48 years of age it's quite minor and hardly visible.
Weighs 9 lbs. 41 1/2" long. Lower bout is 12" wide. Nut is 1 3/4" wide.
Guitars like this, with a 27" scale, are usually tuned to Low "B" in between a guitar and bass but
it'll hold up if you want to go lower or even higher.
I actually have it tuned to a regular guitar tuning and it sounds great!
This guitar looks great, sounds amazing and is guaranteed to turn heads.
These are hard to find in any condition so one in this nice condition with the Western logo name is quite rare.
I don't have a hard shell case for it, but it will come in a nice gig bag.
A guitar Just like this one sold by me last year on eBay for more than $800.00.
I'm starting the bidding at $250.00. You'll decide it's true value.
Sold at No Reserve.
Due to its age, the guitar is sold AS IS with NO RETURN.
For potential buyers from Australia, New Zealand, the Far East & South America:
The neck will be separated from the body. This is due to size requirement by USPS.
The guitar will be shipped minus the gig bag. Too large, obviously.
Other wise it will have to be shipped as an express package at a cost of $600 plus.
Shipping cost with the neck separated should run between $125 -150.
