BIN and I'll include another pair of Matsushita 7189 tubes. I bought a quad off ebay years ago for spares and haven't used them. All four tested fine in an amp, and two are included with this amp. BIN and get all four.
*************NOTICE************ this is a Sears amp, made by Danelectro. It's the 40XL aka Model 1422. It is not a Silvertone and does not say Silvertone anywhere on it. I put Silvertone in the title because most people think all Sears amps were labeled Silvertone, but they weren't.
It was made around 1969 and has that natural tube amp distortion sound.
It has Reverb and Tremolo which both work, but only on Ch2 (it's made that way). The Reverb and Trem can be turned off and on with the knobs or a footswitch. No footswitch is included, but a generic or Peavey switch will work.
I made a nice replacement grille for it from 1/2" or 7/16" plywood. It has T-nuts and machine screws to hold the baffle to the cleats, and to mount the speaker to the baffle. This is a huge improvement over the original 2-piece industrial grade cardboard baffle/grille assembly.
The speaker is a 4 ohm Rola 12" with a ceramic magnet. It sounds much better than the muffled sounding 4 ohm Fisher which it originally came with.
Tubes: (1)6x4 rectifier, (2)7189 output/power, (3)12AX7
DO NOT USE EL84/6BQ5 TUBES IN THIS AMP
It's also had a 3-prong cord added and the big electrolytic caps replaced. It runs pretty quiet and works fine, but it is over 40 years old and I'm not guaranteeing anything.
THE TUBES ARE INCLUDED FOR FREE IF YOU BUY THE AMP. I'll spare the details, but I've had past experiences with ebayers who want me to pay them for "broken tubes" which they can't supply a picture of, or they threw the box away and UPS won't honor the claim... Too much bs, so the TUBES ARE FREE.
BIN and get two more (4 total) Matsushita 7189 output tubes for FREE.
For those interested in who made the tubes: 6x4 unknown; 7189s are Matsushita with the "circled N"; 12AX7s are Peavey/USA, Sovtek 12AX7WA, Groove Tube. I haven't played the amp much lately (that's why I'm selling it), but recently played it for about 45 minutes and everything worked fine. No signs of Gremlins. I've had this amp a few years and used it mostly as a living room/practice amp, and it has NEVER messed with me at all.
