135113306694122900 Rare Surfs Up: Silvertone Kay Harmony 1417 W Whammy & Turquoise Gig Bag

Impossibly rare!  Sears' finest in the BEST color (not blue, not sea foam:  TURQUOISE!)...with the whammy bar....plus the original turquoise gig bag!

Beat the winter blahs and surf back to 1963 with this vintage Silvertone 1417 twangcaster that'll transport you to the beach -- any beach -- with its great vibe and surfalicious 'grill/arrow' pickup.

This specimen, which I believe was made for Sears by Kay, is in very good shape and has just the right amount of lacquer checking, discoloration around the tuning pegs, dings and scuffs to reassure you that it's the real deal.  Plus, you won't be afraid to actually play it!

The pickup has remarkably broad range, from clear and bell-like to hugely crunchy when overdriven.  (There's a terrific youtube clip of a guy playing the successor model from 1965 that sounds the same....search youtube for "1965 Silvertone Electric Guitar For Sale"...remember, THAT IS NOT MY GUITAR, BUT ONE THAT SOUNDS LIKE IT.)

Nicely set up with action I'll call "easy to play."  And the whammy does a surprisingly good job of keeping the instrument in tune.  Gotta love those clear knobs!

The flannel-lined gig bag should have the zipper replaced if you are planning to use it as anything more than a display piece, as teeth are missing, and as you can see in the picture it has come partially un-sewn.

Paypal only...continental US only.
