Silvertone Guitar

This is a mid 1950's Silvertone Jumbo hollowbody Archtop. This thing has been around for a lot of jammin' & rockin'.. Here is what you want to know about her. It has a spruce top.The back and sides are maple with some figuring (nothing to write home about but is nice). It is 17" at the lower bout. It has a Gibson USA made P-90 pickup. , a Bigsby USA made B-6 tremelo, and vintage Grover tuners. The Electronics are all new -CTS pots with shielded braid wiring, NO HUM!! There is no truss rod however the neck is a 5 piece maple and and another hardwood (Ebony,walnut ,rosewood I don't know) and is very straight. The neck is, as was common in many guitars of this period fat as a baseball bat.The string height at the 12th is 1/8".The neck is tight with the bridge having  room to adjust the action up or down..The inlays on the fret board are too cool, abalone and mother of pearl -all hand done - no cnc machining in the fifties!  There is a small piece of binding missing behind the neck at the heel joint. The frets have plenty of life left in them. The fret board is worn but doesn't have any affect to me. There are scratches and wear marks on the top of the guitar as well as various spots throughout- look at the pictures.There is finish checking in many places. This does not affect the playability! At some point in it's life someone decided to put a flat top bridge on it or something, there were 6 holes through the top at the bridge. They are not that noticable and have been filled. This big bodied beast has a rich woody sound, and when pushed the p-90 comes alive with the rawness that it should!
