This is a 1962 Alden Stratotonemade by Harmony of Chicago and labelledfor sale in the Alden Dept Stores.in the early to mid 60's.
It is the same guitar as a Harmony Stratotonewith a slightly different knob layout...but you already know this.
This vintage Stratotone is in beautiful originalcondition with only the slightest signs of use, with no paint loss, no fret wear, no chips or dings,no scratches and only minimal scuffs.
The bridge base looks to have been replacedwith a very nice Brazilian Rosewood basethat has great grain pattern.
The neck plays very well with no buzz or dead spots. You can bend cleanly in any position up the neck. The profile has the chuncky 50's Gibson feel.
The nut has a nice radius and the Brazilian fretboardis level and smooth with no groovesor factory mill marks that most of theHarmony & Silvertone guitars suffer from. This one was set up to play!
Tuners are all original and hold tight. The plastic buttons are free of cracks andare not deteriorated. The pickguard is free of cracks and has alloriginal slot head screws. The volume and tone function perfectlyand the 2 way slider switch worksas intended and supplies nice tonal changes.
The guitar has great tone and the nice high outputthat these De Armond pickups are known for.
Overall, this is a great playing guitar that looksas cool as it sounds. It's well balanced and weighs about 4 pounds.
I love these old Harmony and Silvertone guitarsbecause they are collectible and still VERY affordable.I have dozens of them and can parade themout whenever I gig. They always bring a smile to other musicianswho recall "That was my first guitar!"
We ship 'em fully insured and professionallypacked via FedEx.
This one's going out without a case, but doubleboxed and bubbled to the hilt!
Checkout the teal Silvertone pictured. That one will be for sale soon...or feel freeto inquire or make an offer.
Happy Bidding!
