Vintage 50's SILVERTONE ESPANADA ARCHTOP ELECTRIC GUITARSuper Rare, Super Collectors Piece, Set-up for a player!
Short 3 day auction...reason being I need $$$ quick. Thats why I'm not asking $2000-2500 as most do!
Up for auction (against my better judgement because I love it) is my 50's Silvertone Espanda archtop eclectic guitar. If you're looking at this, you already know what you're looking at and how great/rare these antiques are!I've played it live many times and had it set up for a player (but make no mistake, as rare as these are, a collector would love this piece as well).
Its in great shape, with checking thats only in the paint itself. No cracks through the wood. I do believe the neck was reset at one point, but before I owned it.I've owned this archtop for approx 10 years now, and love the wide neck, light weight, and incredible thick warm tone you get from it.My favorite styles to play with it were jazz in the vein of Joe Pass, blues in the vein of TBone Walker, overdriven West Coast Jump in the vein of Jr Watson, and blues/rock sometimes with slide in the vein of the White Stripes, Black Keys etc with dirty tone.
I don't use it a whole lot anymore since I havent been playing out. Its more of a decoration in my music room since its so cool to look at, although I do pick it up when the mood strikes me. Its a great chance to steal this from me....and I'll most likely kick myself in the b@lls one I get back on my feet financially...but thems the breaks I guess. It'll give me an excuse to look for another later on...if they havent climbed too high in price. They've continued to gain value in the past couple years. I have friends that collect/play them in my area and they love them as well. Along with the great tone and feel of the vintage sears guitars (Sears: Harmony, Silvertone, etc) theres just a really cool vibe of having a vintage guitar like this in your hands. You wonder about everything its seen in its lifetime.....if guitars could talk right? Especially living with musicians....I'm sure it has some killer stories of where theyve been, with whom they've been, and what they've seen! Anyway..maybe thats just my hangup on vintage guitars. Regardless...neck is straight...everything plays great, the pre-gibson pickups are excellent. All original knobs, was refretted years ago and still has plenty of meat, only replacement part to my knowledge is a tougher bridge and pearl pickguard.
Don't hesitate to ask questions. Hardcase included, although its a vintage Gibson hollowbody case and its pretty beat.Item ships from Rhode Island, but pickup is available as well to avoid shipping costs.
